ReqBuilder is the result of AxioCode’s experience in custom development of several hundred web and mobile applications.
We are convinced that the quality of functional specifications is crucial to the success of a custom development project.
Our main objective is to increase the quality and speed of creating functional specifications.
More specifically, the needs expressed by various development teams we interviewed are as follows:
- centralize specifications and keep them updated more easily than with office tools or a user story inventory.
- structure specifications by materializing the relationships between different concepts, for example between the fields of a form and a data model. This avoids information redundancy and ensures a comprehensive specification structure.
- have a collaborative tool with versioning and history. This makes it possible to know what was specified, when and why.
At AxioCode, we use ReqBuilder daily, both to create functional specifications at the start of a project and to keep the functional documentation of applications for which we provide evolutionary maintenance up to date. We concretely observe:
- productivity gains: faster specification creation
- better quality of functional specifications, on which further development and maintenance work depends.
Note: ReqBuilder is a valuable tool in the final phase of analysis, during the formalization of detailed functional specifications, rather than in the preliminary stages, such as exploration.
